I've recently come across several animated specials from the 80s based on classic newspaper comic strips, most of which I didn't know existed. As a lifelong comic strip fan, I'm intrigued to check these out.
First up is a special based on the strip Blondie, which aired on CBS in 1987. I'm watching this for the first time just as you likely are, so let's see how it goes!

I remember watching this. They followed up with at least one more, as I recall. I remember a bunch of specials based on newspaper strips that aired when I was a kid: B.C., Family Circus, Cathy, Ziggy... I probably watched them all, but the only ones I ever enjoyed with the Garfield specials.
Ever see the Far Side special? It's bizarre, even by Gary Larson standards, but worth watching at least once.
I'm posting the Cathy special tomorrow, and I've featured the Ziggy Xmas special and BC Thanksgiving special previously (they're available in the archives).
I came across the other Blondie special, and that may see the light of day here as well. I'll keep an eye out for the Far SIde one. I have plans for the Family Circus in the future.
