Welcome to the 2022 Countdown to Christmas!

Ho ho ho! Welcome one and all to the Countdown to Christmas at Me and You and a Blog Named Boo!

I hope everyone had a happy and stuffed Thanksgiving. With Turkey Day behind us, we can dive head first into the Christmas pool. Just as with the Countdown to Halloween, I hope to have plenty of holiday happenings for you to enjoy all season long.

This Countdown is not a multiblog event as for Halloween; this is just me doing my Christmas blogging thing. Of course, if anyone knows of a similar multiblog event for Christmas, by all means let me know and I'd be happy to contribute!

Today is just an introductory post to alert the masses; I'll start blogging more hearty stuff later this week. For today, please enjoy these short samplings of Christmas goodness.

Happy Holidays! Stay tuned now through New Year's Day--and beyond? Who knows!

Thanks!

Animaniacs, "Hello Nice Warners"

Today I stumbled across one of my favorite installments of Animaniacs, "Hello Nice Warners," featuring one of several run-ins the Warner brothers (and the Warner sister) had with the character Mr. Director, who just happened to be a Jerry Lewis stand-in. Freunlevin!

Tuesday's Forgotten TV: A Pinky and the Brain Christmas

YES!

This week's Forgotten TV is the 1995 special A Pinky and the Brain Christmas. In traditional P & The B style, the duo plot to take over the world, this time on Christmas Eve via a doll invented by Brain. They trek to the North Pole to trick Santa and his elves to create enough of the mind-controlling dolls to enslave the world's children. All the while, Pinky works on his letter to Santa, much to Brain's annoyance. However, that letter turns out to be a key component in the special's resolution.

I admit that the special isn't exactly on par with the classics such as Charlie Brown and Rudolph, but the ending is so great--and unexpectedly touching--that it's well worth an annual viewing. I was in college when this first aired, and I remember my jaw dropping at how things played out.

Enjoy--NARF!

Animaniacs, "Scare Happy Slappy"

Today I revisit one of my favorite cartoon series of all time, Animaniacs. This segment features eternally cranky Slappy Squirrel taking her nephew trick-or-treating and running into her old villains attempting to get revenge for years of torture and defeat in "Scare Happy Slappy".

My money's on Slappy. Enjoy!

Countdown to Halloween 2012 Opening Ceremonies

BOO!

Hello everyone to the 2012 Countdown to Halloween! I've been waiting for this year's Countdown since the end of last year's Countdown. It's an absolute blast to bring you the best spooky, scary, and silly Halloween and horror-related material I can find for an entire month. Of course, I'm far from the only one doing it. Go to the official Countdown site to see all the blogs participating. Thanks, as always, to Countdown curators John Rozum, Shawn Robare, and Jon K for their hard work in gathering all the blog links, maintaining the main site, and creating the badges that appear on each participating blog. Without them, there would be no Countdown. Raise a pumpkin-flavored latte in their honor!

Many blogs will have a particular theme throughout the month--all vampires, all werewolves, etc., while others just post whatever cool stuff they can find--like me. As always, my first post of the month is a variety pack of weird, wild stuff just to get you into the mood. So, without further ado--

--let the Countdown to Halloween begin!

The Witches Scene from MacBeth--starring Animaniacs!

I freakin' love Animaniacs. It was one of the funniest and smartest sereis of the 1990s, including prime time series. Here, the cast act out the witches scene from MacBeth. Enjoy! For more Animaniacs Halloween fun, click here.

John Pinette, King of The Great Outdoors

I don't get to see many stand-up comics perform these days, but one that I always enjoy is John Pinette.  He's made a career telling of his hapless adventures that his, shall me say, stature gets him into.  Here, John tells of his exploits in camping, waterskiing, and parasailing.  Enjoy!

The Amazing Adventures of Little Batman

Since October 2010, I've been enjoying the Batman TV series from the 60s on digital cable network The Hub. It's one of my alltime favorite TV shows, (possibly no. 1!), and because it isn't available on DVD, I have to enjoy it where I can find it. One enterprising person, however, created his own Batman show.

With children.

It's been around for three years or so, but I learned of its existence only recently. Enjoy The Amazing Adventures of Little Batman!

Spider-Man, "The Trouble With Snow"

That's exactly what those on the east coast are dealing with today, so this installment of the original Spider-Man cartoon series is appropriate.  Just stay away from the giant snowman.  Otherwise, enjoy!

OK, so like one time Randy Beaman...

Animaniacs, one of my favorite TV series of the 90s, featured several short cartoons between larger features, one of which was a series featuring an unnamed little boy who would venture outside his house to tell a quick story involving his friend Randy Beaman and the unlikely situations that his family would incur.  Here are a good number of them.  Enjoy!
