The Most Comprehensive Listing of Christmas TV You'll Find This Year

After my article about new Christmas programming on Netflix this year, I had it in mind to do the same for other streaming services and TV channels. There's now no need for me to do so--someone has beaten me to it!

Tumblr user sleepykittypaws has created the most comprehensive catalog of Christmas programming you can imagine. Everything from streaming services to cable channels to broadcast networks and more are covered in this massive listing. This is one stop shopping for all your holiday viewing needs!

Click on this link and you're on your way to Christmas TV heaven. Ho ho ho!

Long Live the Bat: Batman Day 2019

Earlier this year, I wrote a series of articles related to Batman due to the character celebrating his 80th anniversary this year as well as the 30th anniversary of the Batman movie starring Michael Keaton. With the blog about to go into almost-full holiday mode the rest of the year, this will be the last of those articles to give the feature some closure, and we end our celebration of all things Bat with this year's Batman Day.

For the past five years, DC Comics has celebrated Batman Day, the first in the summer of 2014 and subsequent celebrations being in a Saturday in September. This Saturday, September 21st is the big day this year, and comic shops and book stores across the country will be acknowledging the day with select free comics, events, and more. For full details, try the following links:

DC Comics official Batman Day site, the best place to get details: https://www.dccomics.com/blog/2019/09/09/celebrate-batman-day-on-september-21

A downloadable Batman Day celebration kit with coloring pages, games, and fun ideas: https://www.dccomics.com/sites/default/files/imce/2019/09-SEP/BatmanDayActivityKit.pdf

Select Barnes & Noble locations are having local Batman Day events. Check your nearest location here: https://stores.barnesandnoble.com/

You may be able to get free Batman comics at your local comic shop. To find out, try here: https://www.freecomicbookday.com/Article/232558-Celebrate-Batman-Day-At-Comic-Shops-September-21st

I also recommend checking your local library, as they may also be participating. I recommend checking out your local library any day for any reason, because libraries rock!

And with that, I officially bring my year(ish)-long Batman celebration to a close. But who am I kidding, I blog about Batman a lot anyway!

The only other thing I have to offer Batman-wise right now is this:

Thanks! Have a great weekend! Long Live The Bat!

Holiday List O' Links 2017 Edition

Thanksgiving is exactly two weeks away as I write this, and while many don't like to celebrate the holidays before their time, it's still smart to at least begin holiday preparations now. And that's what these links are all about!

Below are some holidays happenings you may want to work into your seasonal calendar. Take a look!

Reba McIntyre hosts this year's CMA Country Christmas celebration on ABC Monday, November 27th.

Pepsi is releasing a Christmas cake-flavored soda for the holidays. But only in Japan. And it tastes like strawberry shortcake. Because that's what Christmas cake is in Japan. The more you know!

Your favorite TV network and mine, MeTV, is airing blocks of Christmas episodes of their series every Sunday afternoon between now and Christmas. Set your DVRs!

Horror fans sorry to see their favorite season over can take solace in a new Christmas horror movie this year, The Elf. You better watch out!

Elvis Presley fans like myself can rejoice! There is a new album of Elvis Christmas classics remixed with performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The regular edition has been available since October 6th, and a deluxe edition will be released Friday, November 24th.

My other favorite music act also has a history of classic Christmas recordings, although of a different kind.

Finally, SiruxXM satellite radio announces their holiday music lineup for 2017.

I hope to have more holiday links for you throughout the season. Thanks! Have a great weekend!

List O' Links Halloween 2017 Edition!

Without the Internet, Halloween celebrations like the Countdown wouldn't be possible, so I'm very thankful for the 'Net's existence. You will be too, as you peruse the following awesome Halloween Web sites throughout the month!

First up, I can't put off mentioning the awesomeness that is Dinosaur Dracula. Site owner Matt has been counting down to Halloween since 2003 at his old site X-Entertainment, and he continues the tradition in bigger and better fashion every year at Dino Drac. Videos, junk food reviews, his music jukebox, and his wonderful writing are all the ways Matt will make you feel warm and spooky inside. Go to his site now!

If you're a big fan of Halloween music--and I know you are--check out Halloween Hits. The mysterious curator offers a great set of Halloween tunes every year at the site, which is only functional throughout the month of October. If you try to visit on September 30th or November 1st, you'll be out of luck! I suggest you rush on over and download all 14 volumes (!) of great music, ranging from hard rock to spooky standards of the 30s and 40s. You never know what you'll find!

Cable channel AMC once again brings its FearFest marathon of horror movies to the small screen. Unfortunately, it's only one week this year, but it's still worth it. Check out this article from Bloody Disgusting for the full lineup!

While we're at it, here are the Halloween programming options from Turner Classic Movies and FreeForm's 13 Nights of Halloween as well!

If you're a fan of both Halloween and classic TV like I am, you'll love these photos of classic TV stars in Halloween costumes!

On October 27th, CBS will air a one-hour animated special loosely based on Michael Jackson's song "Thriller," complete with an appearance by Michael in the special's finale. OK.

Finally, this site lets you know what America's favorite Halloween candy is by state. While I don't enjoy Sour Patch Kids myself, I'm not surprised they came in first place in my current state, New Jersey.

Thanks for visiting!

List O' Links Star Wars 40th Anniversary Edition!

Welcome to Memorial Day Weekend! Enjoy it, use it to kick off your summer celebrations, and remember to keep in your thoughts the fallen men and women who died in wars past and present.

Yesterday was the 40th anniversary of the release of the first Star Wars film. To celebrate, here is a Star Wars-only edition of List O' Links to peruse while you make the Kessel run in 14 parsecs!

Star Wars.com, the official Star Wars Web site, has an entire hub dedicated to several anniversary-related articles. Check them out!

The gang at the Nerd Lunch podcast did several great episodes regarding the entire Star Wars franchise. Do give them a listen!

If you're not familiar with the conceptual artwork of Ralph McQuarrie, you're in for a treat. His Star Wars work is beautiful and has been collected in book form. Read all about it!

Finally, if you love the music of Star Wars--and surely, you do--but always wanted to hear it played metal-style, look no further! Galactic Empire is a great band that performs all your Star Wars favorites in full headbanging fashion. They're playing my hometown of Philly next weekend. See if they're coming to your town!

Have a great holiday weekend! May the Force be with you!

List O' Links for Friday, May 19, 2017

I haven't posted a List O' Links since February, so I'm long overdue for one. Enjoy your unseasonably hot Friday (on the east coast, anyway) with these cool links!

Want to weed out unwanted selections from Netflix's not-so-accurate algorithms? Here's how!

Here are some gorgeous backgrounds from the great Hanna-Barbara action-adventure cartoon Thundarr The Barbarian.

One of my favorite sitcoms of all time is Happy Days. Here are some fun photos taken from the series from behind the scenes, including the late Erin Moran.

If, like me, you still have a big collection of audio cassettes laying idle in your house that don't often see the light of day, you may have a way of listening to them in the near future. I give you--the Elbow, the next portable cassette player!

I don't normally address 1990s nostalgia here, as I'm much more of a 70s and 80s guy, but for any of you that do have a soft spot for the decade, you may also have a soft spot for the classic 90s song "Flagpole Sitta" by Harvey Danger. Check out the Onion AV Club's spotlight on the song.

A great deal of people are looking forward to the new Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot, including me. Why not prove your love to the Wonder Woman in your life by getting here these lovely Wonder Woman bracelets, tiara, and lasso. And they're only 400 FREAKIN' DOLLARS!!!

Finally, have you ever driven by a building that looks suspiciously like a Pizza Hut and yet doesn't serve pizza? It happens a lot more than you think--so often that someone has created a Web site called Used to Be A Pizza Hut. You'd be surprised how many former Huts have been repurposed for any number of enterprises. Take a look!

Have a great weekend!

List O' Links for Friday, February 3, 2017

Welcome back everybody! I hope you all had a great holiday season (it's weird asking about your holidays when February has already started). It has been far too long since I've written here, and I only have time to show you some cool stuff at other sites, but I'm still worth your time, aren't I?

Oh. Well, here are some fun links anyway.

When I got into comic books heavily at the end of the 80s, I came across an awesome "choose your own adventure" style book featuring Batman; I still have it to this very day! Coincidentally, The Retroist has a brand new article about it. Check it out!

It's that time of year again--time for McDonald's to bring back the ever-popular Shamrock Shake! But they've kicked it up a notch this year. In fact, they've kicked it up three additional notches! This year, McDonald's is offering four versions of the shake! Bring on the calories!

If you love awesome toys from the 70s, then you'll love THESE awesome toys from the 70s! I totally had the green and black Roaring Hot Cycle!

I can never get enough foreign-made posters for popular America movies. Their outtake on our films are always both crazy yet full of insight that we Americans lose. Try these foreign movie posters on for size!

Finally, I have had the new Chocolate Strawberry Oreos, and they are goooooooooood! Don't believe me--check out the word of Stunt Zombie. He likes them too!

Have a great weekend!

List O' Links for Friday, September 23, 2016

Hello one and all! It's the first official weekend of autumn, and the forecast says that it will feel like it. Before you put on that light jacket you've been wanting to wear and go on your fall foliage tour, get warmed up with these hot links!

TV stunt woman Jessie Graff made a splash this summer with the audience of NBC's America Ninja Warrior. Here, Jessie tells DC Comics about her love of Wonder Woman and Supergirl, and how these characters inspire her to do the things she does.

Some of the funniest moments of Saturday Night Live have been when actors accidentally break character by laughing at their own mistakes. Here are a few hilarious examples!

One of the best parts about the fall season is the aromas: pumpkin spice, crisp newly fallen leaves, and apple and cinnamon, just to name a few. But sometimes, the genuine articles aren't available and you have to improvise with the fake stuff. Glade has released an exquisite set of fall scents that are sure to tantalize your sensory glands!

If you love autumn that much, you might be like this guy.

Pumpkin spice is everywhere of course, but that doesn't mean every product is enhanced by it. Popsugar helps you out by identifying 22 pumpkin spice offerings, ranked from worst to best. Pumpkin spice kettle corn, anyone?

Finally, this week's last link is the most important of all--the Countdown to Halloween! Yes, it's coming back yet again, and I will be a part of it! Both this blog and my Tumblr site will be featuring nothing but spooky-related fun all October long. If you're new to the Countdown, please visit the main site to find out what it's all about--you can even participate yourself! It all starts Saturday, October 1st.

Have a great first weekend of fall! Enjoy a football game! Feel the leaves crunch under your feet! Buy a Halloween costume! Do fall stuff!

List O' Links for Friday, November 6, 2015

I've noticed something about you. You simply don't have enough Internet links to check out! Let me help you with that this weekend!

First, some Halloween leftovers: the Onion AV Club recently identified their 25 best horror movies released since 2000. The Babadook is rightfully present, but [REC] got robbed!

My beloved Halloween animated special Witch's Night Out is now in production as an off-Broadway stage musical. Yay!

I recently came across a blog called Autumnal, which celebrates everything that is..well, you know. Check it out!

Looking ahead to the holiday season, ABC recently announced their 2015 holiday programming. Set your DVRs accordingly!

As a lifelong Peanuts fan, I'm thrilled that the long-awaited Peanuts Movie is finally released today! I'm also excited to see this recently released book Only What's Necessary: Charles M. Schulz and the Art of Peanuts by Chip Kidd. It's on my to-read list!

That's this week's short list of cool links. If you find a link you think is worthy of being mentioned here, please let me know in the comments.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome to the 2015 Countdown to Halloween!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Welcome one and all to the Countdown to Halloween! It's my favorite time of year to blog, and I'm thrilled to take part in this fantastic event once again. This is my seventh year participating--wow!

For those of you returning to my blog this year, thank you! And if you're new to my blog, thank you too! Here's how it works:

Nearly 200 great blogs, all available at the event's host site (click here) will be counting down to Halloween starting today, October 1st and, ideally, posting one article with a Halloween/horror/spooky theme every day until October 31st. Of course, if you can't blog every day, that's cool! This is meant to be fun, not a job, so anything you can post is awesome. I usually post Monday through Friday, with a break on weekends.

Please be sure to check out as many great participating blogs as possible. And if you have a blog that you want to join in on the fun, by all means! See the Countdown to Halloween site for details.

Happy Halloween! Let's get started!

Here are a couple of music videos to get you warmed up for the season. First are clips from the awesome, funny, yet gory, movie Zombieland set to Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls," followed by the other end of the Halloween spectrum, the sweet, wistful tune "Ten Thirty One" by Billy Polard. These clips represent the alpha and omega of Halloween: the fantastical, horrific side of the holiday, along with the realistic, fun, memorable part of the day that we experienced as children. Both totally different from one another, but both very much indicative of everything we love about Halloween.

Here's to 31 great days. Thanks!

List O' Links for Friday, September 18, 2015

Wow, I haven't done these in awhile. It's high time I get back to them!

Notice that instead of the usual picture of someone using a computer, I opted for a nice autumn scene. The great season is less than a week away, so I thought it both appropriate and a nice change of pace. I hope your summer season was a fun and happy one!

Now on to the links!

For the first time in America, Burger King is releasing their Halloween Whopper, along with a Pumpkin Spice Oreo Milkshake. I'm not a big Whopper fan, but this looks interesting!

This is a long-awaited weekend for Whovians--the relaunched Doctor Who debuts its ninth season this Saturday. I started watching the new Who at the start of this year, so I'm looking forward to this!

ABC Family has announced their lineup for this year's 13 Night of Halloween. Check it out here!

The fall season, and even the summer season, sees the launch of many pumpkin flavored beers. But if you're looking for a seasonal brew without pumpkin, you have several options. Marketwatch has ten non-pumpkin brews that are still perfect for the fall!

If you use the Internet--and obviously, you do--you may wonder why memes use the same large font all the time. Look no further than this article from Vox that explains how the Impact font became the standard font of memes everywhere.

Finally, I didn't present any back to school material this year as I usually do, but I can't let September pass without mentioning it at least once. Here is a comparison of getting ready for the school season back in the 70s versus today. Sounds accurate.

Have a great weekend! And please remember that the Countdown to Halloween starts in less than two weeks on Thursday, October 1st! Be there or beware!

List O' Links for Friday, July 10, 2015

I haven't done a List O' Links in awhile, so it's high time I did so. Click away!

I love Sesame Street, and I love learning more about the series and seeing things about it I haven't seen before. This takes the cake: Sesame Street characters playing hockey against the Chicago Blackhawks! This soundless home movie reel is dated circa 1970, but I think it may actually be from much later in the decade. Either way, it's fun to watch!

This being the 40th anniversary of one of my all-time favorite movies, Jaws, here is a collection of fantastic Jaws fan art! You can also find a few other pieces at my Tumblr site!

While I type away right now, San Diego Comic Con 2015 is in full swing! It's practically always Comic Con here at the blog, but in honor of SDCC, here is a defense of the existence of the awesome Cartoon Network series Teen Titans GO! The article describes it as a "necessary evil," but I think the show is wonderful. It's my favorite product DC Entertainment is making--with the exception of The Flash TV series.

Summer is most famous for its hot, sunshine-filled days, but there are plenty of people who enjoy the rain. If you're one of them--and I do appreciate a good rainy day here and there--this site is for you: Rainy Mood. For those days you're feeling serene and introspective, this site provides the sounds of a soothing storm. Rain--it's not just for sadness!

Here's a chance to step back in time to October 1978 and see what was on the tube back then according to TV Guide magazine!

Finally, artist extraordinaire Alex Ross has unveiled a set of work featuring the Beatles as they appeared in the animated movie Yellow Submarine. I loved Ross's work and the Beatles, so to see the two together is a real treat!

Have a great weekend!

List O' Links for Friday, April 24th, 2015

Why is it so chilly this late in April? I guess it's best to stay inside where it's warm and catch up on these great Internet links!

Did you enjoy Marvel's Daredevil TV series on Netflix this month? I certainly did. Here is a list of all the great Marvel Easter eggs to be found in the series as well as hints of what's to come in the future for the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be careful: spoilers abound!

In another direction, DC Comics announced a new line of multimedia products for girls aged 6 to 12 years spotlighting some of the great female characters of the DC universe. As the father of a young girl who loves superheroes, I couldn't be happier about this!

Speaking of DC, the first official Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was released this month. Here's a fan's take on the trailer featuring the incarnations of the characters as played by Adam West and Christopher Reeve. Well done!

It's very possible Yoda is a biblical figure. You just go ahead and check that out right now.

Nearly everyone loves the Beatles, but drummer Ringo Starr doesn't get the respect he deserves--until now. I love Ringo and think he's an outstanding drummer. Go Ringo!

Finally, you can learn a lot about being a man by following the example of Thor. No, not that Thor, the original Norse mythology Thor. Odin's beard!

Have a great weekend!

Friday, January 16, 2015

List O' Links for Friday, January 16th, 2015

Welcome to what I hope for you is a nice long weekend. Spend it at these fine links!

It'll take you at least one of the next three days to enjoy the top 50 web comics as chosen by Pleated Jeans. There are some fantastic comic strips here!

For all you MS-DOS fans (and you know who you are), you can now play almost 2,400 classic DOS-based video games in your browser, courtesy of the Internet Archive. Play away!

One of my favorite novelty music acts is Spike Jones and His City Slickers. Now they can be your favorite too, thanks to Music for Maniacs. Enjoy every song the band recorded in their first seven years!

Next Tuesday, January 20th at 3pm Eastern time, Marvel Comics is going to make a major announcement about this year's upcoming Secret Wars event, which, unlike every other event from the major comics publishers, is actually supposed to change the Marvel Universe forever for real. Bookmark this link to follow along with the announcement and see what all the hubbub is about! The link won't be live until the actual event, so proceed with caution.

Long before TGI Fridays became the default place for potato skins and Jack Daniels riblets, it's first location was quite the swanky place. Learn this and more about the restaurant chain's surprisingly colorful past here!

As long as we're learning things about people and places we thought we already knew, here are 19 facts you didn't know about the legendary band Fleetwood Mac. You may be sick of them due to egregious overplay by radio, but they really are a great band.

Finally, I've professed my love for Adventure Time before, but for a twist on the popular animated series, check out this--let's not call it a rip-off, let's just say it's apparently inspired by AT. From a young group of independent animators in China comes "Legend of Lucky Pie." It's weird, it's trippy, it's mathematical!

Have a great weekend! If you're serving your community this Monday, thank you!

Friday, December 12, 2014

List O' Links for Friday, December 12th, 2014

It's weekend number 3 of the holiday season 2014. Take a break from your hectic shopping and partygoing with these links!

Spider-Man has faced a lot of challenges and setbacks in his career, but he's currently dealing with what may be his biggest challenge yet--everyday life in Cairo, Egypt. A young photographer is making a film of an actor in a Spider-Man costume to show the struggles citizens in the country are experiencing. A humorous yet sobering look at the country!

Remember last week's post about Pizza Hut's attempts at Christmas marketing? They should take a look at inroads chicken franchise KFC has made into ingratiating itself into Christmas celebrations--at least in Japan.

You guys! Digital comics retailer Comixology is offering 12 Days of Free Comics! It started yesterday, but you still have 11 more chances to get a free comic. Go there--now!

You may have heard of Krampus, the horned creature who used to follow around Santa and beat the crap out of bad kids. Well, there's more Christmas terror where that came from. Take a look!

The shopping mall probably sees more people tread its grounds at this time of year than any time of year by far. It can be a frustrating experience, but you know what would make it more fun? If we could go back in time and check out the mall back in 1989. Looking at these awesome photos is the next best thing! I love the 80s-ness!

Finally, 'tis the season for beer drinking! Here is one site's list of 15 of the best Christmas-themed beers you'll find this year.

Feliz Navidad!

List O' Links for Friday, November 21st, 2014

This is the last weekend of the year before the holiday season. There's something significant about that, even if I'm not exactly sure what that is. Regardless, here are some fun links to amuse you as you wait for the The Most Wonderful Time of The Year to begin!

The Den of Geek has done us all a favor and created a handy guide of as many Christmas movies and TV episodes as they could find. What a great holiday hook-up!

Would you like some cool Batman wallpaper for your desktop computer? Of course you would! Thanks to Neato Coolville for this!

The Peanuts Movie just released its first full-length trailer this week, and I couldn't be more excited about it. Here are some still images released from the film courtesy of Geek Tyrant, as well as the trailer itself. Coming to theaters November 6, 2015!

Automaker Honda is tapping into the fact that Generation X is now the breadwinner of America by using 80s-era (mostly) toy characters to encourage the purchase of their vehicles. Nicely done, and shrewd! The Skeletor one is my favorite.

Add this to the collection of holiday music sites worth visiting regularly--My Festive Fizzy Pop, poster of cool new Christmas songs!

Finally, Shawn Robare of Branded in the 80s blows our minds with his Back to The Future theory. Behold: The Other Marty McFly Theorem! Great Scott! This is heavy!

Have a great weekend. See you in the future!

List O' Links: Christmas Prep 2014 Edition

I know what you're thinking: "Oh no, you haven't succumbed to Christmas Creep too, have you?" Nope! I'm very much in a November state of mind. However, it is a good idea to at least plan ahead for the holidays now. Planning and celebrating are two different things! The more planning you do now, the more time you'll have for celebrating later. Isn't that how you'd rather spend the season?

These links we'll help you get your holiday house in order, from buying gifts to preparing meals, and even for finding out what the coolest new holiday music is. Surf away!

If you plan on visiting the Philadelphia area this Christmas, we in the City of Brotherly Love have amazing holiday events. Check out this link for 15 of the best!

A great one-stop shop for preparing for the holidays is Organized Christmas. They have several plans you can use to budget for gifts, clean your home, entertain guests, and prepare food for the season. There are great ideas here!

A great Christmas site that I've been following for years is Xmas Fun. They have recipes, crafts, video channels, music, clip art, and fun games and programs to download (including an awesome Christmas Lights program for your desktop that I've been using for over a decade now). One of my all-time favorite Christmas sites!

If you're a subscriber to SiriusXM satellite radio, as I am, you may be happy to know that they start airing two of their holiday channels, Holly and Holiday Traditions, next Tuesday, November 11th! More holiday stations will be added next month. Click here for the details!

For all things Christmas, but especially news and streaming of the latest holiday music releases, you must follow Santa's Working Overtime. If it's holiday-related, and it's new, this blog will mention it. It also has cool links to other great sites--sometimes, it even mentions my blog!

For the passionate Christmas music lover, look no further than the awesomely named Mistletunes. This site does a great job of highlighting the latest and greatest releases, especially some obscure ones. I never celebrate Christmas without it!

OK, you can look further, because I also must mention Stubby's House of Christmas. Everything I said above applies here too. Stubby doesn't miss a thing when it comes to great new Christmas music. I can't praise it enough!

Lastly, I suggest you bookmark Amazon's Holiday Digital Music Store. It always has good deals on Christmas music, and they change frequently, so check back often so you don't miss anything. I especially enjoy their 25 Days of Christmas event, in which they offer one Christmas song a day for free from December 1st to the 25th. It's a great way to freshen up your holiday music playlist!

Of course, I'll have other great Christmas links when the season is in session, but until then, I thought it a good idea to bring these sites to your attention now so that, when the time is right, you can hit the ground running. Happy Holi--I mean, have a great weekend!

Tuesday's Overlooked: Blog Reruns

I've been wracking my brain for a new selection for this week's Tuesday's Overlooked feature, but I'm afraid I've come up empty. However, I still wanted to post something today, so I thought I bring to your attention some selections from weeks past in case you missed them or are new to the blog--reruns, if you will. Here are some of my favorites!

Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin in the action comedy Midnight Run

Bill Murray and Gena Davis in the New York comedy Quick Change

Gene Wilder and Bob Newhart in the hilarious Thursday's Game

The briefly aired post-World War II TV drama Homefront

The well-respected music documentary Standing in the Shadows of Motown

The 1980s "rock 'n' roll fable" Streets of Fire

The charming Maurice Sendak animated TV special Really Rosie

Not an official Tuesday's Overlooked entry, but it still fits--my article defending the quality of the horror sequel Jaws 2

For more of my Tuesday's Overlooked/Forgotten features of the past, simply click on the "Tuesday's Forgotten" label along the right of the blog. If you see any broken links or missing videos along the way, please leave a comment on the article in question and I will update them when I can.

Thanks! For more current Overlooked gems, check out friend Todd Mason's blog Sweet Freedom.

You Guys! Witch's Night Out and The Gift of Winter Are Out on DVD!

Holy Hanna! I received some great news this morning. I received a comment on my old post about the Christmas TV Special The Gift of Winter that the special and it's sequel, the Halloween special Witch's Night Out, are out on official DVD releases! Witch's Night Out was released back on September 16th, and Winter drops tomorrow, October 21st. Bonus features include 10 public domain spooky-themed short cartoons on Witch's and a making of featurette on Winter.

I received this comment directly from the creators of the specials, Cross/Rogers Productions. Thanks for finding my blog, guys!

For more information, you can check out the Web sites for both specials, www.witchsnightout.com and www.thegiftofwinter.com.

List O Links for Friday, September 12th, 2014

Hello everyone! Sorry for the radio silence this week, but being Back to School time as you know, I've been busy with both my kids starting their first full week (they started last Wednesday), plus my wife, a teacher, starting her first full week as well. And on top of all that, my kids returned to dance school this week as well. And Tuesday was my wife's birthday. I was busy, folks.

But enough about me, let's get to some links I've discovered lately!

Darwyne Cook is an awesome comic book artist. If you're not familiar with his work, check out these variant covers he's created for some upcoming DC Comics issues. Beautiful!

This week being the 13th anniversary of 9/11, here is a fine article on AOL on the subject.

This August and September marks the 50th anniversary of the Beatles first US tour. Here is some footage and audio of the boys from the tour's stop in my hometown, Philadelphia.

Astronomically, it's still summer for another 10 days or so, but in the minds of most people, it's already autumn. For many, it's their favorite time of year, and it's hard to argue against that. For you autumn lovers out there, I highly recommend the Tumblr site Cold Hands, Warm Hearts, featuring beautiful autumn photos of foliage, food, holidays, and other seasonal delights. Check it out!

Finally, is Raiders of the Lost Ark the most perfect film ever made? The Retroist reports, you decide!

Have a great weekend!
