Bugs Bunny, "Wackiki Wabbit" (1943)

Hello all! I'm posting a favorite Bugs Bunny cartoon of mine today for no other reason than I really love it. Possibly one of my favorite Bugs cartoons! I've been enjoying the Saturday Morning Cartoons block on network MeTV for a while now. Highly recommended for those who grew up enjoying these classic cartoons.

Enjoy!

Looney Tunes, Happy Hare-lloween!

Today I feature a collection of clips from scary-themed cartoons from Looney Tunes. I've featured some of these before, but my links to those videos keep breaking. This collection should be OK though, as these are directly from the official WB Kids YouTube channel. And these are in great quality.

Enjoy, doc!

Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet

Guys--we're just three days away from the 2018 holiday season. Threeeeee daaaaaays. It's early, but so what? Let's get into it!

Our entrance into the holiday season as always is Thanksgiving. Although the past decade or so it's been treated as "Christmas Lite," for me it's best to celebrate it, at least for that one day, as a day unto itself. A day to spend in the company of loved ones, good cheer--and great food. However, even on Thanksgiving it's best not to go overboard, and there is an expert to help us with that--Bugs Bunny!

In Bugs Bunny's Thanksgiving Diet, Bugs shows us how to pace ourselves on Turkey Day, with the help of his Looney Tunes friends in classic, if edited, vignettes of the past, interspersed among new animation. I've noted in the past that the Looney Tunes prime time specials aren't quite the classics that Rankin/Bass and Peanuts specials are, but in the days before Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, Gen X kids took their cartoons where they could get them.

Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween Special

Today begins the last full week of the Countdown to Halloween. The big night is a week from tomorrow. Get your last-minute spooky fix in while you can!

Today I offer the 1977 CBS special Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween. This is a collection of classic Looney Tunes cartoons, each with a spooky theme and perfect for Halloween. There were several such Looney Tunes specials during the late 70s and early 80s made the same way for other holidays. They certainly weren't classics the way the Great Pumpkin and Witch's Night Out are, probably because Looney Tunes cartoons were much more accessible in those days than other cartoons, but they were still welcome additions to prime time children's viewing. For a fun cartoon fix, you usually can't go wrong with Looney Tunes!

Enjoy, Doc!

Countdown to...Columbus Day?

Here I am, a few hours early, posting this Sunday night instead of Monday morning, outside of my pattern of early weekday morning blogging lately, so I can get this to you before a day off tomorrow. Tomorrow is, or course, Columbus Day, and although we are indeed counting down to Halloween all month long, I thought it still appropriate to acknowledge the day, after which, we ramp up the Halloween goodness.

Here is a fun Bugs Bunny cartoon in which he assists the sailor in discovering America. Enjoy "Hare We Go!"

Here is another Columbus cartoon that I'd never seen until researching for this post. Here is an educational approach to the Columbus story. Very interesting!

We'll be back with more Halloween goodness Tuesday. See you then!

Bugs Bunny Halloween Double Feature

Next up in my Halloween hit parade is a pair of Bugs Bunny cartoons both from the early 50s, I believe. First up, Bugs versus Witch Hazel in "Broom-stick Bunny."

Next, Bugs is in double trouble when he meets Dr. Jeckyl and his fiendish alter ego in "Hyde and Hare."

Thanks!
