List O' Links for Friday, April 24th, 2015

Why is it so chilly this late in April? I guess it's best to stay inside where it's warm and catch up on these great Internet links!

Did you enjoy Marvel's Daredevil TV series on Netflix this month? I certainly did. Here is a list of all the great Marvel Easter eggs to be found in the series as well as hints of what's to come in the future for the Netflix corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Be careful: spoilers abound!

In another direction, DC Comics announced a new line of multimedia products for girls aged 6 to 12 years spotlighting some of the great female characters of the DC universe. As the father of a young girl who loves superheroes, I couldn't be happier about this!

Speaking of DC, the first official Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer was released this month. Here's a fan's take on the trailer featuring the incarnations of the characters as played by Adam West and Christopher Reeve. Well done!

It's very possible Yoda is a biblical figure. You just go ahead and check that out right now.

Nearly everyone loves the Beatles, but drummer Ringo Starr doesn't get the respect he deserves--until now. I love Ringo and think he's an outstanding drummer. Go Ringo!

Finally, you can learn a lot about being a man by following the example of Thor. No, not that Thor, the original Norse mythology Thor. Odin's beard!

Have a great weekend!

List O' Links for Friday, January 11, 2013

The first list o' links of the year. I hope you think it's a good one!

This is a great site for those with an interest in forgotten or obscure rock from the late 60s and early 70s, The Rising Storm. It gives reviews of albums that fit in that category and lets you know of upcoming reissues. They also have video and a podcast. Highly recommended!

In the spirit of my article on Jaws movie posters, here is a list of 12 completely awesome movie posters featuring sharks

Finally, here's a deep question to begin your weekend: does quantum physics make it easier to believe in God?

Have a great weekend!

Jesus of Nazareth: The Birth of Christ

Well here we are, Christmas Eve. The wait is almost over. In less than 24 hours as I write this, Santa Claus will have finished his yearly journey around the world and all the presents will be unwrapped. The season really does seem to fly by more quickly every year. If you're like me, you keep the Christmas celebration going through the whole week up to New Year's Day. I highly recommend you do the same. Of course, you should keep the Christmas spirit throughout the year.

Today I bring you the "reason for the season." Here is the telling of Christ's birth from the epic TV miniseries Jesus of Nazareth.

Here is the condensed version:

And so wraps another season of Christmas blogging. I don't think I had as high a number of posts this year compared to last year, but the quality was closely on par, if I do say so myself. I wish I had some Hanukkah programming this year, and I apologize for the lack of it (I have a nice Hanukkah post from last year still available); I'll do better next year.

I'll be taking a few days off from blogging to enjoy the holiday with my large family, and I hope you do the same. I will have a couple of posts next week to ring out 2008 and ring in 2009, so I will see you then. Until then,

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Jesus of Nazareth, The Crucifixion

Happy Vernal Equinox everyone! I hope you all get a chance to get out into the new spring sunshine. I believe it's officially becoming spring as I type this. Hope your day is going well whatever your weather pattern.

Here is the last of this year's Easter posts, and it deals with the very origin of the celebration itself; no bunnies or colored eggs here. This is a dramatization of Jesus's crucifixion from Franco Zeffirelli's hours-long television miniseries Jesus of Nazareth (imagine if there were real footage). If you celebrate the spiritual aspect of the holiday seriously, you should enjoy it.

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter, regardless of religion (or lack thereof). I'll see you again on that day, and for the third time within the last two months, it will be a post of personal significance for me. See you then!
